Norman Park State School (NPSS) opened in its current location on Agnew Street on 9 July 1900 with 52 students, a Principal, and three other teachers. As the school’s enrolment grew during the following decades, many timber buildings with verandas were added to the original brick structures which are now heritage-listed.
Norman Park takes pride in being a school with a rich heritage, a strong community spirit and a positive future. As our school motto suggests, NPSS is using this rich and successful heritage to build a strong and positive future-based learning environment for its students. Our school has shown a positive growth trend over recent years due to this distinctive family ethos, as well as the urban renewal of the suburb. In 1994 the school’s enrolment was 140. In 2009 enrolment has grown to 405.
NPSS is very proud of the achievements of its students in a wide range of areas. It has continued to achieve excellent results in the Year 2 Diagnostic Net and the National Assessment Program- Literacy and Numeracy Years 3, 5 and 7 Tests (NAPLAN). Many students also choose to enter the International Competitions and Assessments for Schools and our students have also achieved excellent results in these external tests.
