Lower Plenty PS is a happy school with high expectations. At Lower Plenty we are very aware of the need to make each student feel special. Our size enables every child to be well-known to staff and other students.
The school has a healthy balance of male and female teachers. The school has a genuinely bright and positive atmosphere. With more than 120 years of history behind it, Lower Plenty is large enough to be able to provide comprehensive programs yet small enough to provide more personal care, attention and valuing of the individual. Students are able to experience things they may not have the opportunity to at larger schools.
The school offers a challenging, comprehensive and relevant curriculum to all our students in the Key Learning Areas of English, Mathematics, Science, ICT, Studies of Society and the Environment, Health and Physical Education and The Arts (Music, Visual Arts and Drama). Our Educational program has a major emphasis of sound foundations in Literacy and Numeracy skills. Specialist programs are provided for Music, Visual Arts and Physical Education. Additional programs include Reading Intervention, School Rock Band, Choir, Music Technology, Performing Arts Concerts, Music Keyboard, Guitar, Tennis and Soccer lessons, Buddy Program, Cross-Age Tutoring, Religious Education, Interschool Sport, Swimming, PMP, Chess Program and a Camping Program(P-6). New Preps are thoroughly prepared for school life with an extensive Orientation Program.
Additional support staff at Lower Plenty include a psychologist, a speech pathologist, school nurse, volunteers and a part-time computer Technician. Our school community comes together for a variety of fun-filled and family orientated events including the school's annual Car Boot Sale, Parent/Staff Dinner Nights, Shopping Tours, Working Bees, Open School Days, Teddy Bear Evenings, Book Week Celebrations, Education Week Celebrations and Community Festivals.
